Dance Recital

Emma had her first recital with her new dancing program yesterday. It was really cute. And she had tons of fun. I swear, that girl was made to be in front of people. She had a huge adrenaline rush after, and was just thrilled with it.
She got to wear some makeup, and thought that was really cool.
Her dance was a gingerbread dance, to the song cookie monster sings "gingerbread man."
She was a darling little gingerbread girl, and remembered her steps in her dance surprizingly well.
And Dan had flowers for her after the show. That was a huge deal for her, and made all the hard work worth it.
Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Trish also came down to watch Emma (in her three minutes of glory) and she loved having them there. We went and got ice cream after, and she had a great night. And then this morning, she slept until 10:00! Yay!!!

Gentle Dental

Who would you rather have working on your teeth?
Dr. Dan
Or his daughter.

This is Emma's first visit to the dentist (I know, terrible that she's four and her father a dentist and this is her first visit). She was nervous at first, but her curiousity overcame all fear and she let daddy look at her teeth, count them, "tickle" them with strawberry shortcake toothpaste, and finally paint them. Then, it was Emma's turn. She squirted water in his mouth, blew air in it, vacumed it out and looked at his teeth with the mirror.

We have an awesome dentist! You'll have to come see for yourself.

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like. . .

CHRISTMAS!!!
The day before Thanksgiving, we got our Christmas deco out. It was so fun! Emma was out of this world excited.
We love our tree - it has purple ornaments on it! And yes, I might just have the best sport for a husband (maybe I should just say the best husband ever).
We also got the kids decked out in their Christmas garb. I made Emma's skirt, and Seth's is a black friday find.
Look at that little hand reaching for me. He's so stinking precious.
Ho Ho Ho.
Happy Holidays!!!

November - A Random Post

How did November fly by so fast? It was Halloween, and the next day, it's December! We did have some fun in November, though. And here it is:

I don't know who is more crazy- the daddy for doing this, or the son for refusing to stop sucking on his fists even though he was being hung upside-down.

We went to the Living Planet Aquarium with Dan's parents. It is just right up the street from us, and actually really cool! (Nothing like the aquarium in Omaha, but I feel like a broken record saying that).
We got winter hats and I thought they looked so cute! There's nothing as cute as bundled up marshmallows for kids. Here's Emma's hat. Her mom apparently forgot that she has the smallest head ever (like her dad), and should have stuck with the toddler sizes. Oh well, I guess she'll have a cute hat for years to come.
And Seth look adorable in just about anything. And his 12 month hat fits him just great!
Aunt Trisha took Emma to Disney Princesses on Ice. It was one of the best nights in Emma's life. She has talked about it ever since. This is after, and you will notice she can barely keep her eyes open. What a great night. Thanks Trish!!!
And here are some wild children in their puffer jackets. Actually, the purple one is the wild one, the brown one just looks completely confused.
Poor kid.
We hit the day after Halloween costume sales. We found this pink dress from High School Musical, a girl named Sharpay. She actually has the Barbie, too. She wore it non-stop for quite a while, until a little neighbor came over to our house and said "Sharpay is a mean girl." That confused Emma for a while. Now she just calls it her pink "marryin'" dress. I guess we should watch the movies we're letting her dress up like.

My cousin, Bethany, is putting on the boutique, and she is an amazing crafter. Her items will include watches and wreaths. There are several others participating and there will be a wide range of very cute, very unique things.
P.S. Please help me spread the word!!!

Happy Halloweeners!!!

Hopefully everyone had a great Halloween. We sure did! Though it was quite different than the week-long festival we got used to in Omaha, we still had lots of fun.
Dan had been on his "crazy" hiking trip until Saturday morning. I threatened him that if he missed carving pumpkins and Halloween he would be in the dog house. He was home in time, but could hardly walk. I still made him take the kids trick-or-treating (evil laugh inserted here).

Here is the perfectionist at work. I finished my pumpkin way before him. Guess who's turned out better? Dan's always does.
Emma poked holes in the back of all the pumpkins.

Here is our lovely dinner in a pumpkin, a little tradition we picked up from the most "boring" people we know (another evil laugh).

And so the dressing up begins. Emma decided she needed to do Seth's hair. He loves to have his hair played with!

Can you even believe how cute?!!!!

By the way, he's not a jailbird. That is just one of his regular outfits, though I'm starting to question it because of how many comments I got on Halloween.

Sweetest.

Here they are! The "wicked witch of the west" and the little monkey.

Emma was so excited to have her face painted green. I didn't do a very good job on it, but she was so thrilled! Dan said that each door she went to she excitedly told people "my face is green" before she even said trick or treat.

And here's the little monkey. He's been squealing a ton, and he sounded just like a wild animal!

Ee-ee, oo-oo.

We let Emma watch The Wizard of Oz because she wanted to be the wicked witch for Halloween. Not smart, mom and dad - it scared the living daylights out of her. But, she still wanted to be the wicked witch. I didn't have the heart to tell her that she's much too cute, and much too purple to be the wicked witch. By the way, I made that awesome trick or treating bag.

And ahh, the spoils of Halloween. She came right in the door and dumped it all over. We had about this much candy again left over from our bucket. The biggest dissapointment was that we didn't have very many trick-or-treaters come to our house. In fact, Emma only got the answer the door for one, and that is part of the joy of Halloween for her. I guess there are fewer kids around here than we thought. But, all in all, in was a wonderful night!

Baby Food

This little chunk is eating me out of house and home! Or should I say drinking me out of house or home. So, going against my better jundgement, the doctor's reccomendation, and clearly, Seth's wishes, we tried some cereal on him last week. It was not a hit.

"You have got to be kidding me, mom."
He eats all day long, but is still oblivious to the fact that there is more to life than a bottle. He sits with us at dinner, watches us eat, but has never shown the slightest interest in our food. We even pretend to offer him a bite once in a while, and he never wants it. How could I have even thought he would enjoy his cereal?

On a different note, look at this kid's hair!!! It's getting out of control. His curls are finally starting to come in. He now has about two inches of straight hair, with tight little curls next to his head. It's getting so long, I know I should probably cut it, but I can't. His hair is just so awesome! And it makes for some crazy hair days.
