Announcement

As most of you know, we have been trying to have a baby for two years now. Starting last fall, we began the roller coaster of fertility treatments, including multiple medications and giving lots of blood on my part. Finally, in January, we decided to try a procedure called Intra-Uterine Insemination. This (obviosly) did not work, and it turns out the chances of it working are incredibly low. Well, we did some major praying, and a lot of research, and we felt guided to call LDS Family Services, and learn more about adopting. We met with a case-worker in February, and decided to start the process of adopting. So, four months, four background checks, three doctors physicalls, six hours of interviews, one home inspection and uncountable amounts of paperwork later, we have been approved for adoption. This simply means that LDS Family Services has recommended that we have a child placed in our care, and that an adoption will be possible when that happens. Now we just get to wait for the right baby to come to us. So, for the next few months to few years, we will be in limbo, hoping every minute for a miracle (but really, I guess that's no different from what we have been doing these past few years).

Check out OUR PROFILE on LDS Family Services: go to http://www.itsaboutlove.org/ then click on search adoption profiles, and then type in our username: DanielAndMarianne. There is a way to contact us confidentially through that page.

Also, if you want to learn more about adopting, take a look at http://www.adoption.com/, there are tons of good articles, as well as more profiles to search (we will be adding ours in the next month or so). I also recommend the book Raising Adopted Children by Lois Ruskai Melina.

We are always excited to talk about our experience so far, and to help people understand infertility and adoption better. Please feel free to ask us any questions at any time.

The Pences
Family of three, soon hoping to be a family of four.
