Career Day

Last Friday was "dress like your favorite career" day at school. Emma had a hard time deciding if she wanted to dress like an ocean explorer, a teacher, or a "worker." She finally decided, with no prodding from mom or dad, to dress like a dentist. She was so excited, and so cute in her scrubs and white coat. When she got home, she said that people kept asking if she was a doctor, and she kept having to tell them "no! I'm a dentist." And that night we went to the school, and her gym teacher told us that she stood up and told them all: "my daddy is the best dentist in the whole world." I swear, we don't pay her, or even tell her, to say that!!

Maybe someday we'll be looking at the next Dr. Pence.

And Seth needed to pose with daddy, too. I tried to come up with a career that he could represent in his Santa jammies, but just couldn't think of anything good.
Also this past week, Emma earned her first Lego set. We've had a problem with her lips and cheeks drying out this winter, and she absolutely hates chapstick. So we told her if she could keep her lips and cheeks moisturized, and if she could let all the little sores heal, we would buy her a Lego set. It took almost a month, but she was able to do it. And she loves it! It's been so fun to see her figure it out, and also to see her daddy get transported back to the days of his youth spending hours playing with Legos.
Meanwhile, Seth has discovered Emma's Polly Pocket race track, and he can't keep his hands off of it.
Getting in the tub is always an adventure. Getting out is usually equally as fun. Seth gets his hair sprayed and gelled, and then he turns around and "does" Emma's hair. He's getting so good at remembering to be gentle (most of the time), and it's just so sweet!

Emma discovered my pioneer outfits for my American Girl Doll and started asking lots of questions. For about a week straight we were playing pioneers - it was rather exhausting, but very educational. One day, we made a pioneer apron and bonnet for her, and she wore it non-stop. We had to put our foot down when we went out, though.
