Emma lost her first tooth last night! Yes, it was a big deal. It had been loose for quite a while, and after all the pain and trouble I had when I was loosing my baby teeth, I was worried that hers was never going to fall out. But finally, after a little coaxing from her Dentist Daddy, she let him pull it with a paper towel, and viola! a teeny, tiny tooth!
My baby teeth did not fall out by themselves. I remember going to the dentist every year or so, and having to get a couple a teeth pulled. I would get all numbed up, the d*** doctor would pull, and a full-sized baby tooth would come out - roots and all. For some reason, the roots just wouldn't dissolve. This went on until I was a senior in high school and my dentist finally removed all of my remaining baby teeth and put me in braces. Needless to say, I've been anxiously waiting to see what Emma's teeth do.
This one went off without a hitch. So, happy, and three dollars richer, we are on our way! She wrote a cute little note to the tooth fairy, asking if she could keep her first tooth. It said "dear toof fairy, can I keep my first toof? I will show my friends." The tooth fairy left the tooth, but Emma promptly lost it this morning. I'm sure it will turn up.
