So, I have restrained from commenting thus far, but it's time for me to make some observations about the differences between Omaha, and Salt Lake City.
#1- There is a Red Box on every corner in Salt Lake. You can litterally walk to a Red Box from any point in the Valley. We used to have to drive to the Wal Mart 15 minutes away to get a movie for the night.
#2- The weather is way boring in Utah. Sunny and hot, sunny and hot, sunny and hot. Where are the tornadoes, and hurricane-like storms? I really miss the sirens going off in the evening, and watching big black clouds cross the sky.
#3- Where is God? Okay, I know most people around here are very religious, but I miss the open way that people talked about God in the area we were in. We spent a lot of time in a mostly black area, and God is very different there.
#4- And this is my main point, Utah drivers are so rude!!! As soon as we entered the Salt Lake Valley on the first day we moved here, we were afraid for our lives. People cutting us off all over the place, changing lanes without looking, and speeding, speeding, speeding. You would think that all of the perpetual road construction going on here would offer people a chance to be courteous, but, when told to merge, there are tons of people who drive past the stopped lane, and then expect to merge at the very front of the line. And the straw that broke the camel's back this morning: nobody stops at red lights. Does a change to red mean that three more cars can squeeze by? Apparently so. As I sat waiting at multiple reds, I was astounded that every time my light turned green, people were still going through the other way. Most red lights are less than a minute long - would it be so bad just to wait?
Anyways, there's my rant about crazy Utah drivers. I didn't notice it when we moved to Nebraska, but coming back has sure been a shock. I have heard that Arizona and California are even worse, but I sincerelly hope that I never find out.
Don't get me wrong, I love Utah, and I love being around all the nice people out here. But boy, it sure is different that the heartland.

We have the same problem with drivers here in Oklahoma. I agree, it's soo rude! Utah does have the beautiful mountains though, I miss seeing mountains and not hills.
haha! Utah drivers ARE the worst! I remember once it was blizzarding and the roads were sooo slick you couldn't go over 10 mph or you'd slide out. People were seriously running red lights going 5 mph!! It was so ridiculous!
Sadly, too true :o(
Amen, amen. I hate driving in traffic (I NEVER went to the store at 3:45 when Bancroft got out or during rush hour) but here it's even worse! In fact I need to go to the store to get a couple more things for dinner, but the roads will be too crazy, so we're having something else!
The other big difference is 2 little boys named Jackson and Creighton....right? Come on, that got to be reason enough to move back to the heartland. :)
