"The Mountains"

When we first went to visit Great Falls, we were told that the mountains were very close. The people who told us that we obviously not from Utah, where close mountains are the mountains you live on. However, our landscape is more that of a prairie, with mountains in the distance. It's about an hour drive to get into the heart of the mountains, where we found this little campground. We didn't camp, just had a cookout and did some exploring.
The mountains are thickly forested, and just gorgeous. When just coming upon them, they look like they are covered with dark green shag carpet - the trees!

Emma had so much fun "sploring."
And Seth wanted to get down so badly. The little guy really needs to walk. He's sick of being carried, but crawling just isn't the way to get around in the forest.
We roasted hot dogs, and then made s'mores. Emma took one bite of hers and decided it was too messy. In truth, I don't blame her for it, but refusing to eat a s'more? Unheard of. She ate a good belly-full of raw marshmallows, though.

And this how Seth eats his s'more. The graham cracker discarded behind him, and busily playing in the dirt and pine needles.
Pretty flowers. It took some convincing to get her to leave the rest of them in the ground. She wanted to pick them and put them "on base" (in a vase).
Crawling down the path, trying to keep up with big sis. I got him to stop and do patty-cake with me. He's getting good at "rolling it, and molding it."

What a fun trip up the mountains. We're almost brave enough to try an overnighter. Do you think Seth would make it? I'm not too sure.
