My sister and I decided to take our kids to Gardener Historic Village last week. They have the little shops decorated with fall decor, and they have about twenty cute witches around. We just thought the kids would love it. And we did get off to a good start - here is Seth, being happy and excited about his pumpkin outfit.

However, things quickly went downhill from there. Before we even left, the kids decided they would rather go to the playground across the street. We litterally had a mini-rebelion on our hands. But we stuck our ground, telling the kids "no, we're going to see the witches and it's going to be fun!" At that statement, Emma freaked out because she is "scared of witches." I pretty much forced her into the car. Minutes later, in the car, to pass the time the kids decided to sing songs. Gavin launched into a very loud version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Addie was also trying to sing, and finally reached over and wacked her brother. They started hitting eachother, and screaming. Seth got upset by this noise, and he started crying. Finally, I thought I would be so smart and to turn on some primary songs for everyone to listen to quietly. Not so. Addie and Gavin kept crying/singing/yelling, and Seth kept crying, and Emma started crying because she couldn't hear the music. We had four of five kids bawling in the back seat.

But we stuck it out. And once we got there, it was mostly okay. Emma had one last fit about being scared of witches. I had to strap her in the stroller. She refused to even look at most of them, but finally chose one she liked and actually let us take a picture with it. This witch is hoola-hooping.
Addie was a little unsure about the witches, but much much braver than her cousin.

Not so sure she wants to turn her back on this one.

Gavin didn't have any problem with these cute, old, big-bussomed witches.

So very cute! We love Gardener Villiage! I love the story of the drive in...it sounds oh too familiar! And Happy Birthday Dan! I love the cupcakes!
Love the story about all the kids screaming in the back. Also, I can totally picture Emma being upset about the witches.
